First Prostar Convention


This first national PROSTAR convention took place from 5 th to 7th September 1997 in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. The convention was officiated by the Health Minister of Malaysia , Y.A.B. Dato' Chua Jui Meng. Almost 500 PROSTAR club members from all over the country took part in the first convention.

PROSTARians took this opportunity to exchange their experiences as well as their knowledge. . The objectives of the convention were as follows: To provide the opportunity to PROSTAR club members to demonstrate and exhibit AIDS educational activities completed by them in their respective districts and states. To give recognition to PROSTAR club members for their efforts towards spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS. To provide an opportunity to PROSTAR club members from all over Malaysia to meet, get acquainted, share experiences and exchange ideas. To conduct the Annual General Meeting for electing PROSTAR Club Executive Committee members.

The various activities conducted by the PROSTARians included a cultural show, an exhibition show and a number of stage shows. The Minister believed that such conventions would promote integration as well as strengthen the bond between the PROSTAR members.
